Ian Hodson, Reward and Benefits Manager at Lincoln University and Aaron Mudd, European Pay & Benefits Manager at Lush Cosmetics take to the stage to give their insight into the world of workplace benefits.

“The biggest lesson to be learned is asking the questions,” say Hodson. You need to understand what the top want, what managers want, what employees want and what the recruitment market wants. And then find a common line through that.

“It’s very bottom-up for us,” says Mudd. “There is no reward strategy, it’s very active and that’s the way we run our business.”

“You can pick up trends when you start talking and engaging with people,” added Mudd.

Wellbeing is another big topic in the benefits space at the moment and many businesses are implementing strategies to tackle physical, mental and financial wellbeing.

“I also hear about social wellbeing and environmental wellbeing,” says Hodson. “We need to facilitate staff to be educated to make informed decisions.”

“It’s about dealing with things preventatively and education, rather than being reactive,” says Hodson. Facilitating these things can really create engagement and loyalty with staff.

"I have chosen The Learn Centre both for my own knowledge base and in-house training courses for my teams for many years. I have always been extremely impressed with the content of the courses, people engagement and the positive feedback from my staff."
