HMRC has confirmed that the Welsh Government will make an announcement about its proposed Income Tax rates for Wales in its Budget later this year.
From 6 April 2019, if you live in Wales, some of your Income Tax will be paid directly to the Welsh Government. Although the tax will continue to be collected by HMRC, the Welsh Government will have the power to vary the rate paid by Welsh resident taxpayers.
The system will work in a similar way to Scottish Income Tax, in that the basic, higher and additional rates will be reduced by 10 pence. The Welsh rates will then be added to this.
