Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) has been withdrawn as a means of sending Pay As You Earn Real Time Information data to HMRC.

To reflect the change, an update to the ‘online filing’ section of the CWG2: further guide to PAYE and National Insurance contributions employer guidance has been made to remove the information about EDI, which is no longer available as of 19 April 2018.

Previously, large employers sharing high volumes of payroll and Construction Industry Scheme data could use EDI. As of this month, almost all employers must report their payroll information online using a Full Payment Submission for each pay period.

"I've booked the HR and Payroll Update course most years and during roles with at least 3 different employers. One thing remains the same; a course that is relevant, well delivered and enjoyable and that is key when trying to retain the many pieces of legislation changes to which payroll professionals are exposed."
