Budget airline Ryanair has taken the unusual step of publishing payslips to demonstrate the pay and benefits its pilots and cabin crew receive.
The move follows an ongoing dispute with Irish trade union FORSA, which is seeking to establish a “fair and transparent method to govern base transfer arrangements and related matters”.
The payslip information revealed that Irish captains earn up to €200,000 p.a. and have this year agreed to a 20 per cent pay increase.
The airline highlighted that for the strike that took place on 12 July, only 94 of the more than 350 pilots it employs in Ireland voted to strike. It also outlines the other benefits received by its pilots and their career prospects.
The airline stated: “Ryanair pilots’ union FORSA has received written proposals on seniority and base transfers, which are what FORSA claims are the reasons for the 12th July strike.”
However, FORSA warned that “further strike action would follow later this month unless the airline’s management changed tack and negotiated in good faith on the issue of base transfers and related matters”.
