BEIS have this week released two key updates for parents and employers to support the use of Hared Parental Pay and leave including new planning tools.
The tool will enable parents to check if they are eligible for Shared Parental Leave and Pay; decide how they will share the leave that is available between them; plan their leave and pay; and give the correct notice and information to their employer.
Individuals can use the planning tool to find out:
- how and when you can take Shared Parental Leave alongside Maternity, Adoption and Paternity Leave
- how much Statutory Shared Parental Pay you’re entitled to while you take leave
- when you need to give notice to your employer
You can save your plan and edit it at any time.
Individuals can choose to share the plan with other people (for example partners or their employer) but it will not be shared with anyone automatically.
Whilst the tool is aimed at parents, employers can also use to the tool to check if a member of their staff is eligible for the scheme or to sit down with a member of their staff and work through their plan for when they will be off work. The tool can be found here:
