The Low Incomes Tax Reform Group (LITRG) has produced a factsheet for care workers to help them understand their minimum wage, tax and tax credit positions.

The factsheet offers guidance on many of the complexities faced by care workers regarding their entitlements and tax status.

Areas covered include: whether travel time should count as hours worked for minimum wages purposes; the deductions that can be made when working out pay for minimum wage purposes; how minimum wage areas are treated for tax and National Insurance purposes; whether tax relief is available for unreimbursed costs incurred by care workers; and how working tax credit (WTC) and universal credit works for care workers.

The factsheet also advises on what care workers can do if they are being underpaid the minimum wage and contains 'real-world' worked examples and links for more help.

"When setting up a Shared Service Centre, The Learn Centre played a key role in our award winning Payroll Academy, delivering a blended learning experience combining both classroom based training and an e-learning solution. The course delivery, the training materials and overall learning experience was excellent."
