A word of warning in respect of existing IBAN, Bank Giro or Transcash payment arrangements. In a recent Employer Bulletin announcement, February 2016 sees HMRC move its bank accounts over to Barclays.
The announcement reads as follows:
“Most taxpayers paying their bills electronically will be unaffected and do not need to do anything.
Customers who currently pay using Bank Giro or Transcash payslips should consider alternative ways to pay such as electronic payments.
From February 2016 customers making payments from overseas will need to use a new IBAN number when making payments through their bank.
This will be published on GOV.UK prior to February 2016. Any customer group likely to be affected by the changes will be contacted directly.”

Some of you may have read this bulletin several weeks ago and made a mental note to check, as you can see HMRC do intend to contact all affected groups but it may be prudent to start checking now ahead of the change or any communication that may arrive from HMRC.
