As featured in the June 2025 Employers Bulletin

HMRC has announced a significant update in the latest June 2025 Employers Bulletin, confirming it has reverted to the term ‘Disputed Charges’ after briefly renaming it ‘Charge Resolution’. The change reflects a renewed focus on helping employers navigate PAYE discrepancies more effectively.

According to HMRC, the most common cause of disputed charges is duplicate employments, which can arise more easily with real-time PAYE reporting.

“The creation of duplicate employments is not a new issue,” HMRC explains. “However, filing PAYE information in real time increases the chances of errors that can result in duplicate records.”

To address this, HMRC has introduced several key improvements:

"I have attended many of The Learn Centre’s training courses in recent years. They are always of the highest professional standard and deliver updates on complicated HR and Payroll legislation, but in an easy to understand format. I would gladly recommend The Learn Centre to any potential client who is looking for HR & Payroll training courses, bespoke in-house training or expert advice."
