HMRC has announced that the current government Gateway service will come to an end early next year with a replacement due in March 2018. It currently allows employers, agencies and individuals access to on-line government services and currently incorporates over fifty million accounts.
HMRC have confirmed it is to develop its own identity verification service for most taxpayers and the Gov.uk Verify online identity assurance service which is also being developed as the platform for the public sector.
