HMRC have released their latest Agent Update – number 94.This release is created specifically to give detail on technical updates and reminders along with developments and changes to legislation and allowances relating to UK tax for agents but includes a lot of information of use to those in the payroll industry. This most recent update includes:

COVID-19:

  • final claims for the Statutory Sick Pay Rebate Scheme
  • employees’ home-office expenses
  • Extended Loss Carry Back
  • overpaid Self-Employment Income Support Scheme (SEISS) grants
  • reminder to declare coronavirus grants on company tax returns
  • Tax on UK income if you live abroad – easement ends on 5 April
  • cycle to work

Self Assessment:

  • Self Assessment tax returns for 2021 to 2022 tax year

Tax:

  • notification of uncertain tax treatments by large businesses
  • VAT reverse charge on construction and building services
  • changes to the Construction Industry Scheme (CIS)
  • Corporate Interest Restriction — mandation of electronic filing
  • new tax regime for qualifying asset holding companies
  • extension to Capital Allowances: Self-Assessment changes for zero-emission car allowance
  • Official Rate of Interest (ORI) for 2022 to 2023 tax year
  • statutory reviews
  • Scottish Student Loans Plan 4 ― Self Assessment

Making Tax Digital:
