Some people have been experiencing difficulties in accessing HMRC’s latest offering in this digital age – Payrolling of Benefits in Kind Service (PBIKs).
The issue being that reference to PBIK within the existing government gateway accounts appeared not to be there, thus making registering for this new service for the 2016/17 tax year impossible.
It transpires that if you are using Internet Explorer 8 (IE8) you will need to move to a more up to date version in order to be able to register for PBIK. This is connected to Microsoft’s Lifecycle Support policy for Internet Explorer, the most recent copy being published on 12 January 2016.
So, if you are IE8 and want to register for PBIKs for the start of the new tax year, you will need to upgrade your version to Microsoft’s latest supported version of Internet Explorer, otherwise incompatibility or security issues will not be fixed therefore rendering HMRC unable to support the older versions.
