As we in the payroll industry know, any companies in England, Scotland and Wales with 250 or more employees will have to publish their gender pay gaps from the “snapshot date” within 12 months.
There has been a lot of recent publicity given recent figures have shown a continuing unacceptable gender pay gap of 18.1% for all workers, or 9.4% for full-time staff.
The six categories haven’t changed so employers will be required to provide percentage figures for:
The mean pay difference The median pay difference The mean bonus payments for the previous 12 months The median bonus payments for the previous 12 months The percentage of men and women who have received a bonus The percentage of men and women in each quartile bay bandThe government have recently confirmed the website information will need to be included on:https://genderpaygap.campaign.gov.uk/
The government have also confirmed the reporting is mandatory and if employers fail to comply by the April 2018 deadline, they will be contacted by the Equalities and Human Rights Commission and companies that discover they do have a gender pay gap will be encouraged to publish an action plan alongside the figures detailing the steps they plan to take to address the problem.
