The General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR) will be brought into UK law under the new Data Protection Bill.

The government has released a statement of intent that it will update and strengthen data protection laws through the new Bill

Under the plans individuals will be given more control over their data, while businesses will have to comply with more stringent rules around the use, management and security of data.

Julian David, CEO of techUK, said: ‘This statement of intent is an important and welcome first step in that process. techUK supports the aim of a Data Protection Bill that implements GDPR in full, puts the UK in a strong position to secure unhindered data flows once it has left the European Union, and gives businesses the clarity they need about their new obligations.’

The Learn Centre is running a half-day GDPR course to help payroll professionals prepare for the changes which come into force in May 2018.

"I have attended many of The Learn Centre’s training courses in recent years. They are always of the highest professional standard and deliver updates on complicated HR and Payroll legislation, but in an easy to understand format. I would gladly recommend The Learn Centre to any potential client who is looking for HR & Payroll training courses, bespoke in-house training or expert advice."
