The Fit for Work and Fit Note guidance has been updated to reflect the changes to the referral service.
New referrals to the assessments service, which provides occupational health assessments for employees at risk of long-term sickness absence, will end on 31 March 2018 (no further referrals will now be taken) in England and Wales, and on 31 May 2018 in Scotland.
Those eligible individuals who have already been referred for a Fit for Work assessment will receive the full three month support of the service.
Employers, employees and GPs will continue to be able to use the Fit for Work advice helpline, website and web chat, which offer general health and work advice as well as support on sickness absence.
