Employment law firm Leigh Day, is seeking compensation for those who work in the supermarket’s stores (mainly women) who believe they are paid less than those working in distribution centres (mainly men), for equal work.

This latest announcement follows a series of cases launched by the law firm against the other supermarket giants, including Asda, Sainsbury’s and Tesco, over the same issue of discrepancies in pay between store and distribution centre staff.

Emma Satyamurti, partner in law firm Leigh Day’s employment team, said: “Our clients are fighting for equal pay with those working in the distribution centres, who they believe are doing work of equal value. The law states that women and men doing work of equal value should be paid the same.”

“As we marked Equal Pay Day, on the same date as the last two years, it is clear that businesses must do more to ensure they are taking their responsibilities in relation to equal pay seriously and move swiftly to correct any inequalities that are identified,” she added.

"When setting up a Shared Service Centre, The Learn Centre played a key role in our award winning Payroll Academy, delivering a blended learning experience combining both classroom based training and an e-learning solution. The course delivery, the training materials and overall learning experience was excellent."
