We have all heard about devotion to one’s job, well one employee in the USA has taken that expression one stage further. A Robert Morin worked as a librarian at the University of New Hampshire (UHN) for nearly 50 years where his job entailed data entry, writing short descriptions on CDs and cataloguing books.
When he died, the University discovered that he had left his entire life savings to the University – approximately $4 million.
According to a spokesman, Mullen hardly ever went out, he drove an old car and lived on frozen dinners and he had no family, he wanted to donate the money to the place he loved the most.
The University’s President, Mark Huddleston, commented: “Bob's demonstrated commitment to UNH through his philanthropy is tremendously inspiring.
“We are committed to providing the resources needed to ensure every student achieves professional success and Bob’s gift will play a major role in that effort.”
As a result of this bequest, the University are reportedly spending:
$2million to launch a career centre for students, and $750,000 will pay for a new scoreboard in the American football stadium, and $100,000 will go to the library he worked in for so many years.
