Perhaps unsurprisingly, the Chancellor has announced that he is abandoning his proposed package of pension reforms that would have seen, among other things, a reduction in tax relief for higher earners.
Possibly fearful of a negative reaction from more affluent voters, what made this announcement unusual was the fact that it was announced with less than two weeks to go before the Budget. The government were also possibly concerned that introducing the proposed changes at the same time that campaigning for the EU referendum would cause much confusion.
