Don’t forget – from April next year there will be class 1A liability for excess of the £30,000 payment ceiling for termination payments. Make sure that your budgets have changed to make sure that you accrue for those costs. Your software will possibly need to be changed as will RTI.
Also, look very closely at settlement agreements, lawyers will often write all sort of things into these and they are very high on HMRC’s hit list.
