Nearly 50 organisations have been named and shamed by the Equality and Human Rights Commission (EHRC) for failing to report their latest gender pay gap.

The EHRC has notified all 47 organisations that it will commence formal investigations and assessments to determine whether they are breaking the law by withholding the information.

If the organisations are found to be breaking the law they will be required to publish the figures immediately, and those that do not cooperate could be issued with a formal notice which is enforceable in court and in most cases with an unlimited fine.

Rebecca Hilsenrath, Chief Executive at EHRC, said: “Transparency is a vital first step if we are to achieve gender equality in the workplace.

“All employers with 250 or more employees are legally required to publish their gender pay gap where everyone can see it.

“There’s no excuse for missing the deadline and we will be making sure that all employers that haven’t published their figures are held to account.”

The action follows last week’s naming and shaming of three companies that had failed to report their gender pay gap on time two years in a row.

"I have used The Learn Centre on a number of occasions and have found it provides a great platform to gain the knowledge required to carry out my job. I started off with the Payroll Technician course and this in-depth learning gave me a great foundation of payroll knowledge to build upon and give me the confidence to progress up the career ladder, well worth it and would certainly recommend, no matter what level you are at there will be a course/qualification that can help you."
