This concentrated two-day programme combines the essential elements from our popular Payroll Practice course to enable you to understand the core requirements of:

  • UK tax and NICs system
  • Maternity and paternity pay and leave legislation
  • Statutory Sick Pay legislation
  • Court Order legislation

Our tutors use an easy, step-by-step approach, so you learn by example. You’ll be shown how to use tax and NIC tables, how to complete the different forms and processes for employees who are starting or leaving employment, and how to handle the regular payments and deductions required.

These courses will continue to run as advertised but will now be delivered live by our expert tutors via an interactive online platform so that you can continue to gain knowledge and training from the comfort and safety of your homes or offices.

Who will benefit?

This payroll training course is ideal if you work in payroll or HR and have little or no experience of current UK payroll practice and require a fast track to a basic understanding of how to manage payroll calculations and deductions. It would be especially useful if you are new to the role, returning after a break or just providing absence cover or you need to provide advice to colleagues.

What you'll achieve

By the end of the course you will receive a solid practical foundation in the basics of calculating pay and the required deductions, understanding statutory pay and leave, how to manage starters and leavers.     • Entitlement to and differences between Ordinary Maternity Leave (OML), and Additional Maternity Leave (AML), notice periods, terms and conditions during leave, returning to work

  • Statutory Paternity Pay and Leave
